‘Pailwan Dattak Yojana 2026–27’ Launched on the Occasion of Hon. Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis’s Birthday
Scholarships and Financial Support Extended to 11 Promising Wrestlers from Maharashtra
Mumbai: On the occasion of the birthday of the Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Devendra Fadnavis, the ‘Pailwan Dattak Yojana 2026–27’ was formally launched to support and nurture promising young wrestlers from Maharashtra.
The initiative has been jointly undertaken by the United Wrestling Federation of India (UWFI) and the Devabhau Kesari Foundation. As part of the programme, 11 promising and talented wrestlers from Maharashtra were provided scholarships and financial assistance.
The assistance was distributed by Hon. Shri Girishbhau Mahajan, Minister for Disaster Management and Water Resources, Government of Maharashtra.
Under the initiative, Shri Rohit Patel, President of Devabhau Kesari Foundation, Shri Mayur Jagtap, along with Shri Qazi Abdul Mateen, President of United Wrestling Federation of India, and Shri Dattatray Jadhav, Secretary, UWFI, have adopted 11 promising wrestlers and committed to supporting their sporting journey.
The launch ceremony was attended by several distinguished personalities from the wrestling and sports fraternity, including Triple Maharashtra Kesari Pa. Narsingh Yadav (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mumbai), Triple Maharashtra Kesari Pa. Vijay Chaudhary (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai), Double Maharashtra Kesari Pa. Chandrahara Patil, Hind Kesari Pa. Santosh Vetal, and several other eminent personalities associated with wrestling.

The Pailwan Dattak Yojana has been conceptualised to address these challenges by providing promising wrestlers with essential support for their sporting development, including financial assistance, quality training, nutrition, competition opportunities and the necessary support to pursue a successful sporting career.
The initiative aims to ensure that financial limitations do not prevent deserving wrestlers from reaching their full potential.
More than a financial assistance programme, the initiative represents a long-term commitment towards identifying, nurturing and developing the next generation of wrestling talent in Maharashtra.

महाराष्ट्रातील ११ होतकरू पैलवानांना शिष्यवृत्ती व आर्थिक सहाय्याचे वितरण
मुंबई — मुख्यमंत्री मा. श्री. देवेंद्र फडणवीस यांच्या वाढदिवसानिमित्त ‘पैलवान दत्तक योजना २०२६–२७’ या महत्त्वाकांक्षी उपक्रमाचा शुभारंभ करण्यात आला. युनायटेड रेसलिंग फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (UWFI) आणि देवाभाऊ केसरी फाउंडेशन यांच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने महाराष्ट्रातील ११ होतकरू व गुणवंत पैलवानांना शिष्यवृत्ती व मानधनाचे वितरण करण्यात आले.
मा. श्री. गिरीशभाऊ महाजन साहेब, मंत्री, आपत्ती व्यवस्थापन व जलसंपदा विभाग, महाराष्ट्र राज्य, यांच्या हस्ते या पैलवानांना आर्थिक सहाय्य प्रदान करण्यात आले.
या उपक्रमांतर्गत देवाभाऊ केसरी फाउंडेशनचे अध्यक्ष श्री. रोहित पटेल, श्री. मयूर जगताप तसेच युनायटेड रेसलिंग फेडरेशन ऑफ इंडियाचे अध्यक्ष श्री. काझी अब्दुल मतीन आणि सचिव श्री. दत्तात्रय जाधव यांनी महाराष्ट्रातील ११ होतकरू पैलवानांना दत्तक घेतले आहे.
या कार्यक्रमाला ट्रिपल महाराष्ट्र केसरी पै. नरसिंग यादव (पोलीस उपायुक्त, मुंबई), ट्रिपल महाराष्ट्र केसरी पै. विजय चौधरी (सहाय्यक पोलीस आयुक्त, नवी मुंबई), डबल महाराष्ट्र केसरी पै. चंद्रहार पाटील, हिंदकेसरी पै. संतोष वेताळ यांच्यासह कुस्ती क्षेत्रातील अनेक मान्यवरांची उपस्थिती लाभली.
ग्रामीण कुस्तीपटूंना नवी दिशा
महाराष्ट्राच्या ग्रामीण भागात अनेक प्रतिभावान पैलवान अत्यंत मर्यादित साधनसामग्रीत मेहनत घेत आहेत. आर्थिक अडचणी, प्रशिक्षणाचा खर्च, पोषण, प्रवास आणि स्पर्धांमध्ये सहभागी होण्यासाठी लागणारा खर्च यामुळे अनेक गुणवान खेळाडूंना आपल्या क्षमतेनुसार पुढे जाण्याची संधी मिळत नाही.
हीच गरज लक्षात घेऊन ‘पैलवान दत्तक योजना’ सुरू करण्यात आली आहे. या योजनेचा प्रमुख उद्देश ग्रामीण भागातील होतकरू व गुणवंत पैलवानांना आर्थिक बळ, दर्जेदार प्रशिक्षण, पोषण, स्पर्धात्मक संधी आणि उज्ज्वल क्रीडा भवितव्यासाठी आवश्यक पाठबळ उपलब्ध करून देणे हा आहे.
ही योजना केवळ आर्थिक मदतीपुरती मर्यादित नसून, महाराष्ट्रातील कुस्तीच्या भविष्यातील पिढी घडविण्याच्या व्यापक उद्देशाने राबविण्यात येत आहे.
११ पैलवानांपासून ५० पैलवानांचे लक्ष्य
‘पैलवान दत्तक योजना २०२६–२७’च्या माध्यमातून सुरू झालेली ही वाटचाल भविष्यात अधिक व्यापक करण्याचा संकल्प करण्यात आला आहे.
आज ११ पैलवान… उद्याचे लक्ष्य ५० पैलवान!
महाराष्ट्राच्या मातीतून राष्ट्रीय आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तरावर चमकणारे पैलवान घडविण्यासाठी UWFI आणि देवाभाऊ केसरी फाउंडेशन यांच्या संयुक्त प्रयत्नातून हा उपक्रम पुढे नेण्यात येणार आहे.
